How we got here
How we met
In summary, fate happened.
7th of June, 2025 - The First Time We Ever Spoke.
We were two separate individuals in the same world, on Obasanjo's internet. No conversations. No chats. Nothing. Until one day, I posted about my Prison Outreach Program on X, and Bolu innocently reached out asking to join the program during its next year's edition. This was because her church had mandated her to carry out a legacy project, and my outreach was a good avenue for that. Just like that, we exchanged numbers.
For the next four months, we only spoke twice - first when she complimented my outfit via WhatsApp statuses, and second when I reached out to remind her about the outreach. I occassionally thought about her, but I did not reach out for fear of rejection.
31st of October, 2025 - The Day The Journey Started.
We had a very casual chat about life, my mum's recently-concluded birthday, and so on. It was nothing really, but I was already catching feelings. 😂😂😂
1st of November, 2025- The First Day I Saw Her.
It is a day I'd never forget because that morning, I had lost someone dear to me. I was mourning. But somehow, I tried to be happy, since we had scheduled a call that morning. We talked. It was supposed to be a short call. But the connection was strong. We ended up praying. And that made me happy.
But guess what made me happier? She was coming to Lagos that vert day. Whew! Hearing this, I planned my day around her estimated time of arrival. And of course, I RAN to the park when she told me she was now in Lagos.
On my way to the park, I sensed STRONGLY that this lady was going to be my wife. But I had not seen her yet. What if all of these was a prank?
Anyway, I got to Oshodi and met her. And gosh! She looked so pretty. I could not hold back the compliment, and immediately told her she looked pretty.
December, 2025 - Proposal For Friendship
Yes, I proposed to be her friend. I remember preparing a slide-deck containing the pros and cons of being my friend. I had done a proper design, and arranged the advantages of us being friends. Interestingly, she loved the intentionality, and that was how we became friends.
14th of February, 2025 - Proposal For A Relationship
Valentine's day. Prior to this day, we were already a "thing". But I had not officially asked her to be my partner. I chose that day because it was peculiar for lovers, and also I had earlier hinted her that I would ask her to be my partner on that day. THANKFULLY, she agreed.
10th of July, 2026 - Proposal For Marriage.
Everything was set. I had told Bolu I was not in Lagos just two days earlier. In fact, to make it more believable, I had even taken the stress of the going to a bus park and making a call with her while negotiating with bus drivers. So, she believed. What's more? I had schemed out an event, a month earlier. The event was a speaking event. In the invite we sent, she was to choose her outfit, wear a make-up, dress like she was going for a dinner, and prepare her slides. This was done so it would not be strange when her friend - whom I had carried along since the day I picked a date - start asking to dress properly for the event as a doctor.
We still talked a few hours to the proposal. I remember telling her how stressed I was about "camp", and how I wish I was there for her.
