Our story

How we got here

-

How we met

Our story began at university, where we were course mates. Although we knew of each other, we didn’t really become friends until our third year, when he reached out to me about a product he was building.

Not long after, the world slowed down during the COVID lockdown, but somehow, we stayed connected. What started as occasional conversations gradually turned into a genuine friendship, and by the end of our final year—while writing our final exams—we had grown much closer.

After graduation, we spent some time together before I (Naomi) returned to Abuja. Neither of us knew it then, but those simple moments were the beginning of something truly special. The rest, as they say, is history.

2021

Our first date.

Our first date was a simple one—dinner at a lovely restaurant, where one of our now-famous inside jokes was born. Afterward, we spent the rest of the evening driving around, talking about everything and nothing.

Looking back, what made it so memorable wasn’t where we went, but how effortless it felt to be together. Conversation flowed so naturally that, if we’re being honest, we didn’t even approach it like a “proper” first date. It just felt like two people who genuinely enjoyed each other’s company—and that was the perfect beginning.

2025

The proposal

On the 24th of March 2025, Aaron pulled off the perfect surprise.

We had talked about proposals before, and I (Naomi) had always said I wanted something quiet, intimate, and private. Somehow, he managed to keep me completely unsuspecting by convincing me that an interior decorator was coming to help design his new place. The plan was to meet the decorator first before heading out for a movie and dinner. I’d even just had my hair done that day and was feeling extra cute, with no idea what was really about to happen.

When we arrived, there was no decorator—just a bit of waiting around while I wondered what was taking so long. Then Aaron called me into the living room, and instead of meeting a designer, I found him waiting with a ring.

It was everything I had hoped for and more—simple, intimate, and completely unexpected. He had managed to surprise me in the best possible way, and of course, I said yes!
